- Better Teaching Etiquette -

RÖSVKA WANTS ALL LECTURES TO BE ACCESSIBLE ONLINE
For a number of reasons, students are not always able to attend class. Recordings of lectures could be made available, for instance for a week at a time, so students who cannot attend class still have access to the course material. Röskva will fight to see distance learning options increased and to ensure that all required course material, including lectures, will be made available online.

ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION FOR PROJECTS AND ESSAYS
Röskva strives to reduce paper consumption and wants to encourage greater standardization regarding instructions for essays and other assignments should only be submitted in electronic form.

BETTER FOLLOW UP OF TEACHING EVALUATIONS
Röskva would like to ensure, with clear rules and procedures, that the results of the teaching evaluations may be utilized to improve the education at the University of Iceland.

INCREASED TRANSPARENCY REGARDING REPEATED COMPLAINTS
Röskva believes there could be more transparency regarding how the school deals with repeated comments or complaints from students about instruction, teaching methods, syllabi, etc.

A CAP ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF FINAL EXAMS
The aim should be to set an 80% cap on the weight of final examinations.

CLEAR COURSE PLANS
Röskva believes that both teachers and students benefit from having clear syllabi readybeforestudiescommenceatthe beginning of the semester.

VOCATIONAL TEACHING
Röskva wants teachers to be encouraged to use vocational teaching when applicable. Vocational teaching can greatly increase the quality of courses, especially where there is a great deal of discussion about the subject matter.

- Equality education -

RÖSKVA WANTS GENDER STUDIES TO BE AN OBLIGATORY PART OF TEACHING DEGREES
Röskva would like to promote gender studies as a part of the curriculum of the School of Education as an obligatory course. The education system plays a big part in the formation and maintenance of gender stereotypes. Teachers play an important role in regards to this and thereforeitisimportantfortheteachersof the future to be knowledgeable in this area.

- Students’ Rights-

ACCESS TO OLD EXAMS
Students have a right to access old exams, but that is often lacking. The structure of exams is normally very similar and it matters a lot to many students to be able to access them beforehand.

USE OF STUDENT IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS
The rules of the University of Iceland clearly state that the use of student numbers should be the main rule when it comes to taking exams. Röskva believes it is important that students are secured anonymity during exams.

MAKEUP EXAMS (DUE TO ILLNESS) AND SPECIAL RESIT EXAMS
All students should have the right to make-up and resit exams. Röskva insists that the University listens to students demands and takes further action to enhance coordination between departments.
